What is Contributory Aged Parent Visa Subclass 864?
Contributory Aged Parent Visa Subclass 864 is a permanent visa that allows the aged parent of an Australian Citizen or an Australian PR to stay in the country permanently. The visa holders can access healthcare benefits in Australia and travel to their native country freely for the initial years. The visa lets you apply for Australian citizenship upon eligibility.
Eligibility Criteria
- One must be of a pensionable age when applying for the Parent Visa Subclass 864.
- One must not hold or have applied for a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (subclass 870) visa.
- The applicant must meet the Australian standards of health requirements before applying for a Subclass 864 visa.
- Applicant must not hold any record of visa cancellation or refusal of an application.
- One must sign the Australian Values Statement and be respectable towards Australia’s values and laws.
- One must meet the character requirement set by the Australian government.
- The applicant must have an eligible sponsor. Mostly, the sponsor is one’s child, but if the child is below 18 years of age, then any other eligible relative or community organization.
- Applicants must meet the balance of family tests. To meet the test, half of the applicant’s children must be eligible, or the majority of your children live in Australia.
- Neither the applicant nor their family must owe any debt to the Australian government. If you do, you must pay it back before applying for the Subclass 864 visa.

Visa Fees
One must pay a visa fee of AUD48,495 to apply to Contributory Aged Parent Visa Subclass 864. The fees must be paid in two instalments, the first at the time of applying for the visa, and the second instalment is to be paid when asked.
