Sweden Transit Visa

The Sweden Airport Transit Visa allows non-EU nationals to transit through Sweden during a flight layover at any Swedish airport. With this visa, you can pass through Sweden to your destination country without leaving the airport's transit area. Indians traveling to any Schengen country and having a flight layover at any Swedish airport will be required to apply for the Sweden Transit Visa. 

Sweden offers the following two types of transit visas to foreign nationals:

• Type A Sweden Airport Transit Visa: This visa is used for short transit through Swedish airports, which does not require you to leave the transit area.
• Type C Schengen Visa: This visa can be used for transit as well as short stays of up to 90 days in Schengen countries. 
   

Sweden Airport Transit Visa Type A 

The Type A Sweden Airport Transit Visa is designed to allow nationals from non-EU countries to pass through Sweden in case of a layover at a Swedish airport. However, this visa does not allow you to leave the airport or cross the airport transit area in Sweden. Travelers willing to come out of the airport transit area must apply for a Type C Schengen Visa. 
 

Eligibility Criteria for the Sweden Airport Transit Visa 

You would be eligible to apply for a Type A Sweden Airport Transit Visa if you:

• Are a non-EU national traveling to any of the Schengen countries
• Have a layover at a Swedish airport while travelling to any Schengen country 
• Can prove that the sole purpose of entering Sweden in transit 
• Have sufficient financial resources to transit through Sweden 
• Are not willing to leave the Sweden airport transit area while waiting for your connecting flight 
   

Sweden Airport Transit Visa Requirements 

The following are the documents required to apply for Sweden Airport Transit Visa:

• A valid and original passport issued not more than ten years ago
• Completely filled out Type A Sweden Airport Transit Visa application form 
• Recent passport-sized photographs as per the Schengen photo guidelines 
• Fee payment receipts 
• Copies of previous visas (if applicable) 
• Visa for the destination country 
• Documents to prove your nationality and civil status 
• Detailed flight itinerary
