Portugal’s new portal for regularisation of immigrants
The Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) in Portugal has launched a new portal to accelerate the process of granting citizenship to foreign workers having an employment contract. Immigrants having an employment contract that contributes to Social Security before June 04, 2024, for a minimum of one month can regularise their immigration status.
The new platform, which includes new functionalities, artificial intelligence, and automation, is expected to increase the processing of citizenship applications by 50%. Recent statistical data reports that 1.4 million people have applied for Portugal citizenship in the last six years.
AIMA announces changes to Portugal Golden Visa Program
According to a recent report, Portugal’s Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) has launched a new portal to address issues related to Golden Visa processing delays. The new changes aim to streamline the application process for acquiring Portugal citizenship by investment.
The new changes are:
- Applicants must upload documents electronically via the ARI Portal
- Biometric appointments will get booked automatically from January 15, 2025
- Applicants must pay residence permit fees at biometric appointments
