According to a recent announcement, New Zealand has updated its visit visa policies to allow foreign visitors to take up remote work while enjoying a holiday in the country. The updated policy is effective from January 27, 2025.

Major changes to the New Zealand Visit Visa
The following are the major changes made to the New Zealand Visa:
- Visitors can take up remote work for employers based outside New Zealand.
- Visitors cannot work for a New Zealand employer nor provide local services.
- Visitors cannot take any employment requiring physical presence anywhere in New Zealand.
- Visitors working for more than 92 days within a 12-month period must adhere to tax obligations.
These changes are also applicable for candidates entering with an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority).
