New UK Immigration Rules Effective from July 22, 2025
The UK Government has released new immigration rules and policies for skilled workers, international students, and employers planning to migrate to the UK.
Given below is the list of new UK immigration rules starting July 22, 2025:
New Rules for UK Skilled Worker Visa
- The minimum skill requirement for UK Skilled Worker roles will increase to RQF Level 6 or above. However, candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) granted before July 21, 2025, can qualify for job roles that are not eligible after the new rule.
- The minimum salary requirements have also been increased for the UK work visas:

Note: The salaries listed in the above table only apply to ILR applicants after July 22, 2025.
- Applicants with a UK Skilled worker visa or an application pending prior to July 22, 2025, will be allowed to renew, switch employers, or work in eligible lower-skilled job roles, provided they fulfil the updated criteria.
- Applicants can apply for a second job if their role is mentioned in the ISL list or the RQF Level 6.
Note: Those who applied for the UK skilled worker visa before July 22, 2025, can work for job roles below RQF Level 6, only if their job is listed in the Appendix Skilled Occupations.
- The adult dependents of skilled workers who wish to migrate to the UK must fulfil the A1 English level requirement.
New Rules for UK Student Visa
- The duration of the Post-Study Work (Graduate Route) visa has been reduced to 18 months from the previous two-year period.
- The UK government will impose a 6% tax on international students' tuition fees.
- UK universities will now have stricter guidelines; students who fail to meet the new rules can risk losing their sponsorship license.
- According to the latest reports, there has been a drop of nearly 31,000+ international students enrolling in universities in the UK.
New Rules for UK Sponsorship Visa
- The minimum skill requirements have been increased from RQF Level 3 to RQF Level 6.
- The employers in the UK will now be required to fulfil the below salary requirements for new applicants:

- Employers in the UK will not be allowed to sponsor care workers or senior care workers from overseas, effective July 22, 2025. Sponsorships will only be authorized within the UK if:
- The sponsored individual must have worked for an employer for at least three months before issuing a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
- The applicants must submit the visa application before July 22, 2028, or have a Skilled Worker Leave.
- Employers will be allowed to sponsor workers in the sub-RQF 6 roles only if they were registered in the system before July 22, 2025. However, workers with a transitional provision can renew or switch employers.
- The Temporary Shortage List (TSL), which includes the RQF 3–5 roles list, will now replace the Immigration salary list (ISL). Workers in the TSL list cannot bring their dependents.

Eligibility for UK Immigration from India
- In 2020, the UK government announced a points-based immigration system. The main features of the points-based migration are:
- Candidates for immigration to the EU and non-EU countries shall be considered equally.
- The points-based system must be followed by highly skilled workers, skilled workers, and students who wish to come to the UK.
- For skilled workers, a job offer is required.
- The salary level has been cut from 30,000 pounds to 26,000 pounds per year.
- Applicants must demonstrate their ability to communicate in English (A-level or equivalent).
- Highly skilled professionals must be endorsed by a UK authority, but they are not required to have a job offer.
- Students who wish to study in the UK will be subject to a points-based system and will be required to present verification of an admission letter from an educational institution, as well as English competence and financial resources.
- 70 points is the minimum score required to be eligible for a visa
