Three different methods to prove English Language proficiency
To apply for a Youth Mobility Scheme visa, there are three different methods to prove English Language proficiency:
SELT (Secure English Language Test)
The SELT (Secure English Language Test) is an exam that allows a foreign national to proof ability to communicate in English. If an applicant wants to apply for a Youth Mobility Scheme visa, they must provide SELT qualification by:
- Demonstrating the language requirement depending on CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Language)
- For the test type and assessment, applicants can choose between either of two skills (Speaking and listening) SELT A1 Level or SELT B1 Level four skills (Speaking, listening, reading, and writing)
GCSE A level Scottish National Qualification
Applicants can provide GSCE A level or Scottish National Qualification level 4 or 5 in English, which can be gained through studying at the UK school that the applicant began before turning 18.
Degree-level academic qualification
Applicants can prove their English language qualification if they have a degree-level academic qualification taught in English. If applicants have studied abroad, they must apply through Ectis (formerly in the UK) to confirm that the qualification is equivalent to the UK bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD.
