The immediate family members can join such as:
- Spouses: Wife/ Husband
- cohabiting partner
- Registered partner
- Children under the age of 18
- Children under the age of 21 (dependent)

Non-EU citizens who want to reunite with their families must have a residency permit before they apply for a family reunification visa. Applicants can apply for a short-stay Schengen visa (type c), joining family members and allowing them to enter the Sweden and Schengen area. Once they arrive in Sweden, they can apply for a residence permit for a family member within three months of obtaining a residence card and, after approval, apply for a Swedish family reunification visa.
