Sweden Family Reunification visa 

Sweden's Family reunification visa allows an applicant to bring their immediate family members to the country to join a family member who already resides there. Applicants are allowed to bring their family member to the country if the family member in the country is granted a permanent residence permit or a temporary residence permit as a refugee or a person in need of subsidiary protection or due to impediments to enforcement or exceptionally distressing circumstances, and are at the same time considered to have well-founded prospects of being granted a lasting residence permit. The immediate family members can join such as:

  •  Spouses: Wife/ Husband
  • cohabiting partner
  • Registered partner
  • Children under the age of 18
  • Children under the age of 21 (dependent)
  • Parents

Non-EU citizens who want to reunite with their families must have a residency permit before they apply for a family reunification visa. Applicants can apply for a short-stay Schengen visa (type c), joining family members and allowing them to enter the Sweden and Schengen area. Once they arrive in Sweden, they can apply for a residence permit for a family member within three months of obtaining a residence card and, after approval, apply for a Swedish family reunification visa. 

Family members who have the right to a Sweden family reunification visa:
