Highlights: H-2B Cap count reached for the first half of FY 2025
- The cap count for H-2B visas for temporary non-agricultural workers has been reached for the first half of FY 2025.

H-2B Visa Cap Count for FY 2025
On September 18, 2024, the USCIS reached the cap count for H-2B visas for the first half of fiscal year (FY) 2025. The USCIS has already received the final petitions for temporary non-agricultural workers willing to start their employment before April 1, 2025. However, the USCIS is still accepting petitions from certain categories of workers.
- Applications are still accepted from the following types of workers:
- Current H-2B workers willing to extend their stay or looking for a change in employment terms or the employer
- Fish roe processors, supervisors, and technicians of fish roe processing
- Labour workers or service providers from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and/or Guam from Nov. 28, 2009, until Dec. 31, 2029.
US H-2B Visa
The H-2B visas are designed to recruit temporary foreign workers in non-agricultural job roles. The current cap count set by the congress is 66,000 per fiscal year, among which 33,000 must begin their employment in the first half and the other 33,000 in the second half.
