The US Congress decided to extend the EB-5 visa program to 8 December 2017, sans reform, as part of a makeshift continuing resolution to raise money for the federal government (H.R.601), which was signed by the President into law on 8 September.

It is stated in the Section 106 of H.R.601 that the program has been extended to 8 December, which does not imply ‘guaranteed to remain unmodified until 8 December.’ The US Congress is reported to be energetically working on a EB-5 reform bill and chances are they could bring forth a legislation before December that would have an affect on various visa categories including EB-5.

It was stated by a press release of JD SUPRA that an extension was being expected after the summer break owing to other congressional priorities such as hurricane-relief, prolonged budget negotiations, tax reform, missile defense against North Korea and other military spending. Under the package approved on 8 September, government funding will expire on 8 December.
