China and India have emerged as the top source nations for overseas students in the US for the year 2017-18. They have sent 363, 341 and 196, 271 students to the US respectively. South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Canada are at the 3rd, 4th, and 5th positions correspondingly. These 3 nations have sent 54,555; 44, 432 and 25, 909 students to the US, as quoted by the Forbes.

The first-time
overseas graduates in the US decreased
by 6.6% in 2017 though it still hosts more than a million overseas
students. This has been revealed by the non-profit that monitors overseas
exchange in education IIE.
However, in
spite of its timing, the decrease is not
a Trump side effect totally. The US has the 2nd highest rates for tuition amongst the countries with
top-ranking schools. The UK tops this list.
Very fewer schools in the US offer considerable
discounts to overseas students. Cut from major
feeder countries has a huge impact on the population growth of overseas
students.
Majority of the
reputed US schools are improving when it comes to assisting overseas students
in earning their diplomas. This is notwithstanding the external factors.
The average graduation rate for overseas students
grew by 6% to 76.8% between 2007 and 2017. This is at the 293 US schools
considered for the ranking.
