The latest Saskatchewan draw held on 17th October was the largest provincial draw ever. The province invited 986 Express Entry candidates for a provincial nomination for Permanent Residency of Canada.

Invited Express Entry candidates had lodged a separate EOI with the SINP (Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program). Those invited had specific skills which were in high demand in the province.

Saskatchewan launched the EOI (Expression of Interest) system in June 2018. The Saskatchewan EOI system manages the candidate pool for both the Express Entry and Occupations In-demand sub-categories.

The Express Entry sub-stream of the SINP is aligned with the Federal EE Program. Candidates who successfully get a provincial nomination get 600 points added to their CRS scores. Hence, these candidates are guaranteed an ITA in the subsequent Federal Express Entry round.

Express Entry candidates don’t need to have a job offer from Saskatchewan to qualify under the Express Entry sub-stream. However, the candidates must have work experience in an eligible occupation which is in demand in the province.

Invitations were issued under the following NOC codes in the 17th October draw:

  • NOC 0621- Retail and wholesale trade managers
  • NOC 7321- Automotive service technicians, truck and bus mechanics, and mechanical repairers
  • NOC 0631- Restaurant and food service managers
  • NOC 7312- Heavy-duty equipment mechanics
  • NOC 0711- Construction managers
  • NOC 6221- Technical sales specialists- wholesale trade
  • NOC 0821- Managers in agriculture
  • NOC 4214- Early childhood educators and assistants
  • NOC 1114- Other financial officers
  • NOC 4212- Social and community service workers
  • NOC 1311- Accounting technicians and bookkeepers
  • NOC 2171- Information system analysts and consultants

The minimum cut-off in the 17th October draw was 67 points based on the SINP points-grid.

As per the SINP, the top factors that determine which candidates are invited are the candidate's occupation and score.

The SINP has expanded its list of Occupations In-demand to include more than 200 occupations for the Occupations In-demand and Express Entry sub-streams.
