Expatriates cannot get permanent residency in Oman, but they can stay long-term through continuous employment. As long as the worker has a valid job and the employer renews the work permit and residency card (Oman ID), they can live in Oman for many years. Many foreign professionals stay for 10–20 years by renewing their contracts. Workers can also sponsor their spouse and children, allowing their families to live in Oman long term.
