Acquiring Indefinite Leave to remain in the UK is not the same as UK citizenship. Though ILR holders have the same rights as British citizens expect, there are some key differences, such as:
- Voting: ILR holders are not allowed to vote
- Passport: ILR holder cannot apply for a British passport
- Dual citizenship: ILR holders cannot hold dual citizenship
