Swiss labour market

Switzerland employers seek to hire workers in several sectors, but the highest number of job vacancies are related to healthcare, construction and retail sectors. Around 15,790 jobs were advertised only in the healthcare sector.

A study by the University of St. Gallen found a severe shortage of skilled workers in the country, which may increase. According to calculations from the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute (GDI), even if Switzerland hires 50,000 skilled professionals yearly, the country will still have 400,000 unfilled positions by 2030. This means that foreign workers have a higher chance of getting job opportunities in Switzerland.
