What visa would you need?
If you are not a citizen of the EU or EEA or Switzerland, you will need a Student Visa (D-Visa) to study in Belgium. - Prove that you have sufficient funds to study in Belgium
- Prove that you are of good health with a signed medical certificate
- Prove that you are over 21 and are of good character with a police clearance certificate
Swiss, EU and EEA students do not need a visa to study in Belgium.
What documents do you need for a Student Visa for Belgium?

- A passport with a validity of at least three months more than the visa duration
- Two visa application forms in original
- Acceptance letter from a University in Belgium
- Copies of your educational certificates
- Cover letter explaining why you wish to study in Belgium
- Proof of funds
- A signed medical certificate
- Police clearance certificate
- Visa application fee
What is the processing time?
The processing time varies depending on the time of the year. It takes longer if you apply during the summer, during holidays or at the end of the year.
