Manitoba launches special work permit for its PNP candidates
Manitoba announced special work permits for skilled workers in the province. These work permits will facilitate skilled workers to continue working in Manitoba while they await final decisions on their Canada PR or permanent residency applications. This new rule will address the workforce shortage in Manitoba.
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) will start accepting applications from April 22, 2025. These special Manitoba work permits are valid for 2 years.

Who is eligible for the special work permit in Manitoba?
The eligibility conditions for the special work permit are given below. The candidate must:
- Hold a Manitoba work permit, which will expire in less than 45 days
- Have a work permit that has expired in 2024 or 2025.
- Have been residing in Manitoba before January 15, 2025;
- Have a valid Expression of Interest profile in Manitoba PNP since January 15, 2025
- Have an employment letter from a Manitoba-based employer.

How to Apply for a Support Letter from Manitoba PNP?
Qualified candidates must apply to the Manitoba PNP for a Support Letter. This letter is essential to apply for the subsequent work permit. The applicant must submit the following documents to apply:
- A copy of the EOI profile.
- An employment letter from a Manitoba-based employer.
- A valid Manitoba work permit.
- Evidence of authorization to work in Manitoba.
- Evidence of a past work permit held on May 7, 2024
- Evidence of status restoration.
If the MPNP candidate meets the eligibility criteria, they can apply for a Support Letter to the MPNP. Special work permit applications will be accepted until December 31, 2025.
