Immigration South Australia is making some alterations to the nomination policies for its General Skilled Migration. One among them is that it will reward overseas students who have been residents of South Australia for a long-term.
ISA will offer a nomination for Subclass 489 Provisional Visa from 28
February 2019 to any applicant who:
- Is a former or current overseas student residing
in South Australia; and - Has stayed consecutively in South Australia from
2012 March or prior and continues to
stay in SA; and - Is working in SA currently from minimum last 3 months. Not required to
be at a skill level and must be for at least 40 hours every fortnight; or - Studying a course in SA with at least a duration of 1 year
The conditions that are
applicable for being nominated by SA are:
- Applicants who have worked, studied or lived in any other State or
jurisdiction in Australia for any time period after 2012 are not eligible - Short holidays or home visits will not break the requirement for
residency in SA. However, evidence of
the continued connection to SA will have to be offered. It could be being
employed and appropriate Visa that is held or and continued enrolment, as
quoted by the SBS. - Applicants must have studied a course registered with
CRICOS for minimum 46 weeks duration to be considered as a former overseas
graduate of South Australia. If studying currently, the course must also be
registered with CRICOS for a minimum of 46 weeks duration. - The applicant must also fulfil all other requirements for
nomination specified by the State and Home
Affairs Department. Any application for nomination from an Australian State
needs a valid test result for English
language and Skills Assessment. For the former, just the minimum of
Competent English is necessary for DHA. This is unless the registration
requires a higher level.
