The Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program originated in 1978 in the name of former Vice-President of the United States, Hubert H. Humphrey. The Hubert H. Who can apply for Hubert Humphrey Fellowships?

Students or semi-professionals who are enrolled in non-degree graduate-level courses in the United States can apply for the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship. To apply for this scholarship, the applicants must have the following eligibility criteria.

• The candidate has less than five years of professional experience before August 2024.
• Teachers have no management responsibilities except for English teachers as foreign language teachers and specialists in treatment.
• A candidate who has stayed in for one academic year or more in college in the United States till seven years of experience before August 2024.
• Candidates who have at least six months of experience before August 2024
• Candidates having U.S. Permanent Resident or 2 United States citizenships.
• Candidate must not have participated in the latest State Department exchange programs.

Eligibility for Hubert Humphrey Fellowships

To be eligible for The Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program candidate:

• Must have completed a bachelor’s degree equivalent to the U.S.
• Should have a record of public service in the community.
• Must have five years of professional experience before August 2024.
• The degree must be a course of a minimum of four years.
• Must have leadership abilities.
• Must take an oath to return to India after completion of the fellowship.

Selection Process

Step 1: National screening: The selection committee scrutinizes the applications and shortlists eligible candidates for an interview round.

Step 2: Interview: An interview round will be conducted for the selected candidates by a panel of Embassy and alums of the Humphrey fellowship program.

Step 3: Review: The Fulbright Scholarship Board (FSB) proposes selected candidates for the following review and final decision.

Step 4: Placement: The Institute for International Education (IIE) will offer a placement to universities that work jointly with U.S. universities.
