Saskatchewan PNP to broaden its immigration eligibility
The province of Saskatchewan recently made an announcement stating that it would widen the scope of the eligibility of workers on its soil for those who want to apply through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) for Canadian permanent residence (PR).
This announcement will positively impact individuals employed in intermediate & lower-skilled occupations within this province through the SINP’s Existing Work Permit stream if they fulfill the basic eligibility conditions for the stream as well as the SINP.
The increase in eligible occupations to get a PR indicates that permit holders belonging to 279 distinct occupations will henceforth be eligible to work and reside in Saskatchewan permanently.
Individuals who are eligible for PR under this rule are farm workers, truck drivers, nurses’ aides, and retail sales employees, among others.
Earlier, only highly skilled or Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities (TEER) workers under 0, 1, 2, or 3, and nominated tradespersons had the eligibility to apply through the SINP for this province’s PR.
Eligible under the newly developed stream are applicants who satisfy both general SINP and stream-specific conditions, along with the following:
- A qualified open work permit or work permit supported by Labour Market Impact Assessment(LMIA), a Canadian Ukrainian Authorisation for Emergency Travel (CUAET) visa, francophone mobility work permit;
- A legal job offer letter under SINP;
- Full-time work experience of six months in the same job that their job offer letter indicated;
- Obtain a score of a minimum of 4 in Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB), in case you are employed in a TEER 4/5 occupation and
- An authorized Saskatchewan authorization in case standardized in Saskatchewan is your occupation.
Individuals not eligible as per these changes
The individuals ineligible to relocate to Saskatchewan as per this immigration stream are as follows:
- Food and beverage servers;
- Truck drivers;
- Healthcare professionals;
- Graduates employed currently under a Post-Graduation Work Permit(PGWP) and
- People claiming Canadian refugee status.
