India and Rwanda have entered into three MoUs

India and Rwanda have entered into three MoUs (memorandums of understanding) during the visit of Hamid Ansari, Indian Vice-President, to the East African nation.

Anastase Murekezi, Rwandan Prime Minister, and Ansari were present during the signing of the MoUs by Amar Sinha, Secretary, External Affairs Ministry and Alexis Nzahabwanimana, Rwandan Minister of State for Transport on 21 February.

Mr. Murekezi was quoted by the Hindu as saying that with the introduction of direct flights between the two countries, the ties between both the nations will be strengthened. In April, Rwandan Airways will start operating direct flights between Kigali, Rwandan capital, and Mumbai.

The countries decided to exempt visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports of both the nations. Also present during the inking of these three pacts were the Rwandan government officials and an Indian business delegation which had come to participate in the India-Rwanda Business Forum organised by the (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) FICCI.

Speaking to the media, Sinha said that Rwandan government evinced the desire to see many Indian pharmaceutical companies set up their operations in the country and also Bollywood to shoot its films there. He said that the government of Rwanda also wanted to encourage tourism.
