Highlights: Portugal’s New Year traveller reservations break all records

  • The traveller reservations for New Year in Portugal are projected to exceed the previous records.
  • Azores, Alentejo, the Centre, and the North have also recently emerged as more attractive to tourists.
  • 16.8 million tourists were welcomed in Portugal this year and 42.8 million overnight stays were registered, demonstrating Portugal as a popular destination for tourists.

Reservations for Portugal’s New Year surpass previous records

In an interview with the Portuguese News Agency Luca, Pedro Costa Ferriera, President of the Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies, stated that despite the impact of recent events and other uncertainties, the traveller reservations for the upcoming New Year’s holiday will remain robust and will surpass previous records.

Ferreira also said that 2024 would be a great year for Portuguese tourism, driven by the positive reservations.

Portuguese tourists are also exploring international destinations, such as Brazil, Cape Verde, Sao Tome, Cuba, and Disneyland Paris.
