Hike in tourist taxes in Paris hotels for 2024 Olympic Games
In anticipation of the 2024 Olympics, French government has revealed their plans to triple the tourist taxes on hotel rooms in Paris.
Depending on the type of lodging, the proposed increase in the current tourist tax will range from 0.75 to 15 euros per night.

The plan is a part of the 2024 budget, and is set to pass through the parliament without a vote before Christmas.
This indicates a total of 200% increase and will contribute to the public transportation. This move will result in 423 million euros yearly, by surpassing 200 million euros required for transportation costs during Olympic Games.

Hotels have set the rates for the Olympic season
Many hotels have already modified the rates for the Olympic Games season, which runs from July 26 to August 11.
Leading hotel associations, including the GNC group and UMIH union, have joined the government’s initiative.
Catherine Querard, head of GHR, a union advocating for the hotel and catering sectors, expressed concern that increased hotel costs resulting from the higher tax rate could affect businesses.

Single ticket and 10-ticket passes prices to increase
President Emmanuel Macron’s government plans to utilize the article 49.3 of the French constitution to push the 2024 budget without requiring parliamentary vote.
The regional transport authorities plan to increase the prices, including a nearly quadrupled metro fare for 10-ticket passes and single ticket passes.
