Ontario has issued new invitations through its Skilled Trades Stream for Canada PR. Express Entry Candidates receiving the invitations can apply for Provincial Nomination. On March 21, The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program or OINP sent a total of 361 invitations.
The invitations were sent to eligible
candidates. They had submitted their profiles between 21st March 2018 and 21st
March 2019. Their eligibility depends on the following criteria -
- Age
- Education
- Skills
- Work Experience
The Federal
Express Entry System manages a pool of candidates under 3 main categories.
- Federal Skilled
Worker Class - Canadian
Experience Class - Federal Skilled
Trades Class
Candidates fulfilling the criteria for
any of the 3 categories receive a nomination for Canada PR. Ontario issued the
invitations as part of the Skilled Trades Stream. The province searched for
Skilled Workers and Experience Class Immigrants living in Canada.
To be eligible, the candidates needed to
have a minimum of 1 year of work experience. Their skills must have been
listed in Canada’s National Occupational Classification list. Part-time work
experience was also considered. However, the skills should have been listed in
Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72 or 82.
Candidates could apply to the stream
without needing a job offer. However, the OINP has its own set of requirements
for them to fulfil. Immigrants who
received the invitations managed to get an additional 600 points. This, in
turn, guaranteed an invitation to apply for Canada PR.
The OINP has issued a total of 732
invitations to date through the Express Entry Program. It’s said to be the most
attractive option for potential Immigrants willing to move to Canada. However,
possessing the in-demand skills is a must. The province aims at easing its
labour shortage, as quoted by CIC News. Hence, skilled and experienced
Immigrants with at least a year of work experience should apply to the OINP.
