My Journey as a Sales Manager from India to Canada
Background and Career Overview
Sales has always been at the heart of my career. I am a Sales Manager by profession and an immigrant by choice. With over 10 years of experience in sales, I strongly believe that sales is what drives any business forward. No matter how innovative a company is, without sales, growth is impossible. This belief shaped my professional journey and decisions.
Education and Early Career
My journey began with a strong academic foundation. I pursued an MBA and was fortunate to receive campus placement with Tata Consultancy Services. Working at TCS gave me excellent exposure in client handling, public speaking, and representing an organization professionally. It was the perfect platform to start my career in sales.
After gaining experience, I co-founded a start-up with two friends. Although we worked hard, the venture did not succeed. This challenging phase taught me valuable life lessons and pushed me to rethink my future direction.
Decision to Immigrate to Canada
After joining an MNC, I began researching immigration opportunities seriously. I decided to apply for Canada PR while keeping Australia skilled migration as a backup. Based on advice from friends who had faced issues with fake consultants, I chose to work only with an experienced and reliable immigration consultant. After careful research, I selected Y-Axis due to their strong reputation and global presence.
Choosing the Right Immigration Path
I focused on Canada’s Express Entry system under the Federal Skilled Worker Program. With Y-Axis guidance, I finalized my NOC as 0601 – Corporate Sales Manager. I opted for the “all provinces” option and later received a nomination through Ontario, where I had friends settled.

How Y-Axis Supported Me as a Sales Manager
Eligibility Check
As a Sales Manager, the first step was to check whether my profile met Canada’s immigration requirements. Using the Y-Axis Canada Immigration Points Calculator, my eligibility was evaluated based on my education, work experience, age, and language skills. My score confirmed that my sales management profile was suitable for the Express Entry system under the Federal Skilled Worker Program.
Resume Preparation
Y-Axis helped me prepare a Canada-style professional resume through thier resume writing services that clearly highlighted my sales management experience, leadership skills, client handling expertise, revenue growth achievements, and industry exposure. The resume was tailored for sales and managerial roles in Ontario, making it suitable for Canadian employers and recruiters.
IELTS Coaching
To meet the language requirements for Express Entry, I enrolled in IELTS coaching with Y-Axis. The trainers explained the exam format in detail and helped me improve my speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Regular practice helped me achieve a good score, which strengthened my Express Entry profile.
Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
As a Sales Manager with an Indian degree, I needed an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to prove that my qualification met Canadian standards. Y-Axis guided me through the complete ECA process and helped me obtain the report smoothly, which is mandatory for Express Entry applications.
Choosing the Right NOC Code
With expert guidance from Y-Axis, I finalized my NOC code as 0601 – Corporate Sales Manager, which matched my job responsibilities and experience. Selecting the correct NOC was an important step in ensuring my application accuracy and success.
Finding Job Opportunities in Canada
Y-Axis also supported me in understanding the Canadian job market for sales and management roles. Their team guided me on job search strategies and employer expectations in Ontario, helping me prepare better for professional opportunities in Canada.
Invitation to Apply (ITA)
With proper documentation, a strong sales management background, and expert guidance from Y-Axis, my Express Entry profile was well prepared. After receiving a Provincial Nomination from Ontario, my CRS score increased significantly, and I soon received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canada Permanent Residency.
Applying for Canada PR
After receiving the ITA, the Y-Axis team provided a detailed document checklist and supported me at every stage of my Canada PR application. My application was prepared carefully and submitted to IRCC well within the deadline.
PR Approval and Moving to Canada
Despite challenges during the COVID-19 period, the entire application process was completed successfully. Within a few months, my Canada PR was approved, and I finally boarded my flight to Canada to begin the next phase of my career as a Sales Manager.

Life in Ottawa, Canada
I successfully landed in Canada and am currently working in Ottawa due to my job requirements. The transition has been smooth, and I am gradually adapting to the local community and work culture. People here are friendly and welcoming, which has made settling down easier. Overall, my experience in Canada has been positive, and I am happy with my decision to move here.
Looking Ahead for the Future in Canada
This journey has taught me the importance of proper planning, patience, and choosing the right guidance. Trusting my instincts and working with Y-Axis proved to be the right decision. If you are planning to immigrate to Canada, I strongly recommend seeking professional support. As they say, the right path is the Y-path.
