Japan has decided to simplify application rules on tourist visas

The Japanese government has decided to simplify application rules on tourist visas that would be availed by the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students of Indian universities commencing from 1 February. This was stated by Yoshihide Suga, the country’s Chief Cabinet Secretary.

With this initiative, postgraduates, fresh graduates and undergraduates can use their graduation or enrollment certificates instead of the evidence of financial support that was needed earlier to apply for tourist visas.

Suga was quoted as saying on 16 January that with this move they hoped to improve further social and cultural exchanges between people of Japan and young Indians.

Earlier, in November, the country, referred to as the Land of the Rising Sun, had announced that it would simplify visa regulations for India when Narendra Modi, Indian Prime Minister, was visiting that country.
