PGWP and Field of Study Requirements
Canada’s PGWP is a Postgraduate Work Visa offered to foreigners who have completed an eligible study program at a registered DLI (Designated Learning Institute). Its validity varies from 8 months to 3 years based on the duration of the completed study program in Canada.
In September of last year, IRCC made a major announcement regarding PGWP eligibility. According to the rules, students must graduate from any field of study related to occupations facing long-term shortages to be eligible for a PGWP. The fields of study requirements only apply to students enrolled in vocational programs offered by universities and those in college programs.
