India has emerged as the top source of overseas students in the UAE surpassing China. This has been revealed by the report of the DIAC - Dubai International Academic City and BMI Media. The study analyzes transnational university trends and student mobility.
India is projected as the fastest expanding overseas
student target market in the coming 3 years. It has
surpassed China as the top source of overseas students. The report elaborates
that so far China was the top nation and India has now overtaken it.
DIAC Managing Director Mohamed Abdullah said that India and China are the leading source nations for
overseas students globally. This is applicable to the UAE as well, he added.
UAE is favoured by students from India for diverse
reasons that include the flexibility and Visa
process. There are several families from India in the UAE and their children
enrol in the Universities here. There are several overseas students arriving
here from India as well, as quoted by the Khaleej Times.
Universities
were asked to rank the top 5 source nations for their overseas students. Below
is the table with nations and their % of students studying in the UAE:

Dubai
International Academic City Managing Director added that the new Residence Visa policy has also been
announced. This will attract an
increased number of overseas students to the UAE Universities, added

The 10-year
long-term Residency Visa policy also includes overseas students in UAE who
perform well exceptionally. Other students can also receive the 5-year
Residency Visas.
Students who possess a Dependent Visa will also be offered an extension. This is for seeking jobs in UAE after their graduation. The UAE Universities are all set to benefit from the favourable Visa policies that the government is now implementing.
