India has now eased its Visa policies for nationals of Saudi Arabia. Indian diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia are working on offering E-Visas for Saudi citizens at the earliest. This is after the decision by India to include the Kingdom in the list of nations eligible for India E- Visas.
India has also decided to eliminate the biometric system for Visas
for Saudi applicants. It is hoped that the twin measures of Visa policies will
increase the numbers of visitors from Saudi Arabia. The Indian diplomatic
missions in Saudi Arabia are working on offering E-Visas for Saudi citizens at
the earliest.
An official of the Consulate in Jeddah said that we
are awaiting guidelines form the Embassy of India in Riyadh.
The E-Visa will permit Saudi
citizens to get the Visa online without any agents or intermediaries. More than
150 nations and territories have been offered E-Visa by India. The latest
addition to the list of these nations is Saudi Arabia.
The decision is coming really very late said a senior Journalist
based at Bangalore P. Ram Mohan, as quoted by the Arab News. 3 million Indian immigrants live in Saudi
Arabia, he said. India and Saudi Arabia also have warm relations said, Mohan.
The Embassy of India in Riyadh outlines the list of requirements for
India Tourist Visa for Saudi citizens as:
- A Passport
- A copy of the Passport
- 2 Passport size photos
- A completed Visa application form
- Visa fee in cash
- Evidence of hotel accommodation in India
- Airline
tickets - A letter from sponsors/employers/ bank statement
The above is slashed into 4 steps by the E-visa:
1. Online application for E-visa with valid
documents
2. Payment of Visa fee online through credit
or debit card
3. Receive the India Tourist E-Visa through
email
4. Arrive in India with a printout of the
E-Visa
Minister for Tourism in Kerala State in India K. Surendran welcomed
the decision to ease Visa policies for Saudis. The E-Visa and the simplified
process will boost the numbers of
travellers from the Kingdom, he added.
