Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs or PNPs have issued improved provincial pathways to permanent residence in the country. PNPs facilitate nomination of a set number of immigration candidates each year. They allow Express Entry candidates to join Canadian provinces and territories.
During the months of summer - July, August and September - more than 3,000 invitations have been furnished by them. This was one of the biggest news in the third quarter of 2018. This invitation round, this year, was carried out through -
- Human Capital Priorities Stream of Ontario
- Switch to an Expression of Interest system in Saskatchewan
- Labour Market Priorities Stream Creation in Nova Scotia
The Canadian provinces and territories associated with PNP are currently having one enhanced nomination stream. It is linked to the federal Express Entry system. Each province and territory has its own immigration programs that target certain groups and criteria for their PNP. To apply for the PNP, one must:
- apply to a province or territory for nomination
- be nominated by that province or territory
- apply to IRCC for permanent residence
Candidates will need to fill out an Express Entry profile to show that they meet the minimum criteria for Express Entry. It manages three economic immigration programs -
- The Worker Class
- The Trades Class
- The Canadian Experience Class
Most complete applications for permanent residence should be processed in six months or less.
Express Entry Candidates, holding a provincial nomination will receive 600 points toward their usual Comprehensive Ranking System score. This effectively enables them to apply for Canadian permanent residence, as reported by CIC News.
