Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program has invited 1,000 plus immigrants with work experience in 10 targeted occupations. This was through a draw held on 31 May through its Human Capital Priorities Stream.
The draw offered totally 1, 072 invitations to apply for Canada PR through provincial nomination from Ontario. This was for candidates in Express Entry who had the necessary work experience. They also had Comprehensive Ranking System scores in the range of 439 to 469 amongst other criteria.
Ontario is a favoured destination for immigrants who arrive as Canada PR Visa holders. It has Ottawa the capital city of Canada and Toronto the largest city in the nation.
Similar to most provinces in Canada, Ontario also has a Provincial Nominee Program. It uses the PNP for nominating immigrants for Canada PR depending on its labour market needs.
Human Capital Priorities Stream in OINP permits Ontario to seek candidates in the Express Entry pool. They must fulfil the provincial and federal eligibility criteria of the stream. It then offers ITAs for such candidates to Apply for Canada PR through a provincial nomination.
Receiving an ITA for a nomination from a province can be really exciting for candidates in Express Entry. This is because they obtain extra 600 points towards their Comprehensive Ranking System scores in Express Entry. This effectively guarantees them an ITA for Canada Permanent Residence Visa, as quoted by the CIC News.
The first step for being considered for being selected by OINP is to enter the pool of Express Entry. This is through its other Express Entry streams or the Human Capital Priorities Stream.
This was the 2nd draw of OINP in 2019 through its Human Capital Priorities Stream. It has so far offered 2,565 NOIs or Notifications of Interest to candidates in Express Entry.
Occasionally, OINP holds draws through HCP for candidates having credentials that are not usually included in its eligibility requirements. This was the case with the draw held on 31 May. It offered NOIs to candidates in Express Entry having work experience in 10 targeted occupations.
