How much is the Canada PR period?
The Canada PR is valid for a period of 5 years. In certain circumstances, a Canada PR can have a validity of one year. There are two possibilities to choose from after the expiration of the Canada PR. They are as follows:

What can you do after the expiration of a Canada PR?
You can select one of the two possibilities after the expiration of the Canada PR, as given below.
Extension or Renewal of a Canada PR
You can extend or renew your Canada PR to stay as a lawful permanent resident in the country. The following factors must be met to have a smooth and efficient renewal process as per the established Canadian immigration rules.
- Live in the country for a minimum of two years out of the five years.
- Provide proof of their physically presence in the country Canada for a minimum of 730 days in the past 5 years.
- Candidates working for a Canadian company out of the country can take into consideration the days they worked outside if they meet specific requirements.
After meeting the above factors, you can submit an application to processing centres at the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada). You must provide complete information and meet all the requirements to receive a new PR Card.
Applying for Canadian Citizenship
You must meet the following eligibility criteria to get Canadian Citizenship:
- Living in the country for a minimum 3 years or 1,095 days
- Have their taxes filed in the past three years
- Qualify for the Canadian Citizenship test if you are between 18 to 54
- If you are between 18 to 54, provide evidence regarding your language abilities
