The Hong Kong Business Visas have been extended to 3 years from 1 year from January this year. The extension of the term for Shangwu endorsement was announced by the Guangdong government. These Visas are now upgraded to 3-year multi-entries from 1-year multi-entries.
The extension comes even as it
was discovered that many online vendors
were selling business Visas. These would offer recurrent access for
mainland visitors to SARs. It was revealed by the Macau Daily Times.
The government has also proposed
that the Hong Kong Business Visas be offered to:
- Technology and Science personnel from Universities
- Research and Scientific institutions
- Enterprises applying for the Visas
The initiative aims to encourage
Macau and Hong Kong Scientific Research
institutions and Universities. This is for undertaking provisional
Technology and Science projects.
The existing Shangwu endorsement
is offered to business operators. The government will also decrease the least tax limit requirement for them. This is if they
intend to apply for the Hong Kong Business Visas.
The Greater Bay Area’s Outline Development Plan also includes other
suitable arrangements for the endorsement. This is for Pearl River Delta
cities’ residents who carry out scientific research or business.
The Times has also asked queries
to the Macao Trade and Investment
Promotion Institute and Public Security Police Force. This is regarding the
residents in mainland who have arrived at Macau through these Visas purchased from Taobao. These
authorities are yet to offer their official responses. It is also unknown if
the authorities knew that the Hong Kong Business Visas are being sold on the
platform for online shopping.
The Macau Daily Times has also
requested details from Immigration
Agency of the PSP. This is on the figures of residents from the mainland
who arrived at Macau through Shangwu endorsement. It has also asked if the
authorities have found cases wherein the visitors are not engaged in business
activities.
