7 million workers required in Germany
Studies by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) show that Germany will need 7 million skilled workers by 2035. The minister also announced that most of the skilled workers are to be hired from India as the country is welcoming “bright minds and helping hands”.
The German government is developing a skilled labour strategy along with German businesses, the states and the Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of Labor. Respective authorities will be presenting the Indian Skilled Worker strategy to the Indian-German consultations by the autumn of 2024.

Germany is planning to hire skilled workers from India to fill up job vacancies in the country. The labour minister of Germany stated, “India is an important country because it not only has the largest population in the world but also because 1.5 million additional people enter the Indian labour market every month”.

Relaxed immigration policies in Germany
Germany has relaxed some of the immigration policies in order to attract more skilled immigrants to fill up job vacancies in the country. The country is now allowing foreign professionals with at least two years of experience along with a relevant university degree to work in that occupation. Germany also relaxed some of the EU blue card requirements and increased the amount of yearly work permits granted under the Western Balkans Regulation.
