Finland issued 978,506 Residence Permits to foreign nationals!
According to PT-Media reports, Finland has issued around one million residence permits to foreign nationals between 2015 and 2023.
The final figures are yet to be released by the Immigration Office, but projections show that 978,506 non-EU immigrants have been granted residence permits since 2015.
Details about the nationalities that were granted residence permits in Finland
Finland issued Ukrainians the majority of residence permits. Furthermore, Russians came in second place, having received the residency permits.

Migri’s website shows that all of the mentioned nationalities have been granted over 20,000 residence cards since they are the main applicants.
Furthermore, Migration from India and China in Finland is prevalent, but significant numbers also come from Islamic countries like Afghanistan (41,000 arrivals) and Somalia (36,000 arrivals).

7,039 residence permits were granted to International students in Finland!
According to data from the Finnish Immigration Service, in the first half of 2023, 8,762 students from third countries applied for residence permits in Finland. Of these, 7,039 permits were granted for research purposes during that period, which is 80.3% of the total permits being approved.
