Thailand is a preferred destination not only for fun-seeking tourists but also for professionals seeking career opportunities. To enter Thailand, foreign citizens must obtain an Entry Visa.
There are many laws and regulations around Work Permits and
Tourist Visas in Thailand. These laws are frequently revised by the Immigration
Bureau.
- Tourist
Visas
Tourists who wish to travel to Thailand
must obtain a Tourist Visa before doing so. They can apply for it through the
Royal Thai Embassy or through their local consulate. A standard Tourist Visa is generally granted for a period of 60 days.
It may, however, be extended for another 30 days.
People
from Hong Kong and 42 other countries (which have a mutual agreement with
Thailand) can enter the country without a Visa. Such people can stay in
Thailand for up to 30 days per visit. However, they cannot stay in Thailand for
more than 90 days in a six month period.
- Work
Visas
People
who wish to work in Thailand need to obtain a non-immigrant-B-Visa. People
who wish to come to Thailand to conduct business also need to get the same
visa. This can also be obtained through the Royal Thai Embassy or the local
consulate.
This Visa can be of different types. You may
obtain a single entry visa with a validity of 30 days. You may also get a
multiple entry visa with a validity of 1 year. However, the maximum stay on
this visa is 90 days.
There are other Visas too which may allow you to stay in
Thailand on the basis of marriage or diplomatic status.
How can you obtain a
1 year Visa (Visa Extension)?
For foreign nationals to be able to stay in Thailand for a
year without visa extensions, they must:
- Hold a non-immigrant-B-visa

income criteria. Citizens from Europe and Australia need to have an income of

Japanese citizens, the income should be 60,000 TBH. Citizens from Korea, Hong
Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan should have an income of 45,000 TBH.

loss statement audited by a certified public accountant - The employer should prove the requirement of a
foreign national - The employer should have a ratio of 1:4 foreign
