Immigration Agents have been booked by the Police for cheating residents. This is in 3 individual incidents. The residents complained that the agents took money from them for sending them overseas. The Police are investigating the complaints further and have registered a case.
In one of the
case, Police in Division number 5 have booked a case against 3 Immigration
Agents. This is for allegedly duping and
cheating residents in New Shimlapuri. The accused have been identified as
Pooja Mahajan, Fiza Verma, and Ruchi Verma.
Pradeep Singh
the complainant said that the 3 accused have been assuring him to get settled overseas. This is for the
last 3 years and had taken Rs 2.5 lakh
from him, he added. But they failed to keep up the assurance and did not
return the cash as well, added Singh.
Chand Ahir the
Investigation officer said that the accused Immigration Agents are from a Chandigarh based Immigration firm. A
case has been booked against them as per the provisions for conspiracy and
cheating, added Ahir.
In one more
case, Division number 8 Police have booked a case against 3 individuals, as
quoted by the Times of India. This is
for allegedly cheating a Raniya village resident in the pretext of sending him overseas. The accused have been identified
as Raman Kumar, Ramesh Verma, and Ajay Arora of Ludhiana.
Jatinder Singh
filed a complaint stating that the accused assured him to be sent abroad. They took Rs 5 lakh from me for this, he
added. The 3 people, however, failed to fulfil the assurance and are not
rerunning the cash as well, added the complainant.
In another
individual case, Haibowal Police have booked a case against Harpreet Singh and
Kirandeep Kaur of Ludhiana. Amarjeet Kaur filed a case against the duo for
taking money from her. This is in the pretext
of sending her daughter for study abroad in January 2019, she added.
