TOEFL Score
Since January 21, 2026, the TOEFL iBT has transitioned to
1.0 to 6.0 band scale. This system replaces the traditional 0–120 total score to align more directly with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) standards.
New Scoring Mechanics (Post-Jan 21, 2026)
- Section Scores: Each of the four sections-Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing-receives a score from 1.0 to 6.0 in 0.5 increments.
- Overall Score Calculation: Your total band score is the average of your four section scores, rounded to the nearest half band.
- Example: An average of 5.25 rounds up to 5.5, while an average of 5.125 rounds down to 5.0.

TOEFL validity
Your TOEFL score is valid for 2 years from the date you took the exam. There is no upper age limit for attempting TOEFL. You can write the exam as many times as you need. You can try the test with a 12-day gap in between.
