Highlights: PNP has overtaken the federal Express Entry system in Canada

PNP overtaking the Express Entry System
Recently, Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) has overtaken the federal Express Entry system for economic-class people obtaining permanent residence there.
The government expects an increase of 105,000 immigrants each of the next three years through PNP.

Recent developments in PNP
All immigration ministers from each province met with the federal authorities of Canada, where they re-endorsed a multi-year PNP plan.
From March 10th, starting with Ontario, the provinces have begun introducing new PNP allocations.

Enhanced PNP Nominations
Through the Express Entry system, Canadian provinces and territories can nominate a few immigration candidates for permanent residency. These portions of Provincial Nominee Programs are called enhanced PNP nominations.
If a candidate under the Express Entry pool gets a PNP nomination, they will be awarded an additional 600 points out of 1200 under the Comprehensive Ranking System.
