The US Embassy in India consolidated its visa appointment procedures in New Delhi. Non-immigrant B-1/B-2 visas, available for tourism, business, or a mix of both, can be processed at multiple centers across India. Applicants can submit their application forms free of cost at any of the five Visa Application Centres (VAC). The 5 VACs available for US visit visas are New Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
Applicants can also submit their application forms at any US Document Drop-off Centre in Cochin, Chandigarh, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Jalandhar, or Pune for a fee of 850 rupees per application.
The surge in US visa processing in 2023
The US Consular Team in India processed nearly 1.4 million US visas in 2023. The demand for all US visas had increased in 2023 compared to 2022. This is the second-highest number of applications in the US Mission's history, exceeding 700,000. The appointment wait times for visitor visas have been reduced from 1,000 days to 250 days nationwide.
