Citizens of the US, most EU countries, the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) nations, Australia, New Zealand, India, etc. would be able to apply for a visa online to travel to Azerbaijan in a hassle-free manner.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the former Soviet republic has decided to extend this offer to nationals of 81 countries as a new electronic visa application technology was put in place. With this measure, Azerbaijan is striving to improve its tourism services owing to an increase in the inflow of tourists, particularly from the GCC.
Commenting on this measure, Rashid AL Noori, the Chairman of the Representative Office of the Ministry in GCC, said that this was a historic move taken by Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijani President. The whole procedure is now seamless, with none having to waste any time or standing in queues anymore.
The visa platform has been incorporated into the Website of the Ministry’s Representative Office - www.ourazerbaijan.com and www.azerbaijan-visa.com. Hereafter, visas can be applied for the country straddling both Asia and Europe with only three steps, which can be all done online.
In 2017, Azerbaijan is all set to host major sporting and cultural events, which include Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Islamic Solidarity Games, International Carpet Congress and more.
