New Visa ballot process for Australian Work and Holiday program
 

In a recent announcement, the Australian government reported the launch of a new pre-application system for the Subclass 462(Work and Holiday) visa program. The country is planning to implement a new ballot system for Work and Holiday visa applicants from India, Vietnam, and China.

The ballot system will be selecting applicants randomly from partner countries where the number of applicants exceed the number of spots available. The new visa ballot system aims to facilitate the fair, simple, and transparent method of selection of candidates.

Applicants from India, Vietnam, and China can apply for a first, second, and third Work and Holiday visa. Indian applicants can register for the program in the latter half of 2024. Arrangements are being made for applicants from other participating countries.

Australian Work and Holiday program
 

The First Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa allows candidates aged between 18-30 years to have an extended vacation in Australia while working in the country to sponsor their trip. Applicants can take up short-term work in the country to fund their Holiday. They can also travel to and from the country or study up to 4 months in Australia.

Send Work and Holiday Visa holders aged between 18-30 years are allowed to have a second working in Australia. Applicants from India, Vietnam and China who already have a first work and holiday visa can apply for the second and third Work and Holiday Visa.
 

Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA)
 

The government of Australia has decided to extend applications for work and Holidays to 1000 Indian citizens each year as per the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA).

Eligible Indians aged between 18 and 30 years can apply for Work and Holiday Visa for one year and take up short-term employment or study programs while enjoying their vacation in Australia. Applicants must pay AUD 25 to register for the new visa ballot process.
