TSS Visa is aimed at assisting businesses that face a shortage of skilled
workers. The Subclass 482 TSS Visa program enables businesses to nominate
overseas workers. This is for maximum of 4 years based on the sponsored
occupation.
The Temporary Skills Shortage Visa is
intended at assisting businesses in Australia. This is in identifying the
required skilled workers in the industry, as quoted by the HCAMAG.
The 3 streams
under Subclass 482 Australia TSS Visa are:
The Short-Term Stream
It is applicable
to overseas immigrants whose occupations are present on the STSOL - Short-Term
Skilled Occupation List. They will be employed for 2 years in Australia unless
this is conflicting with a global trade obligation.
The Medium-Term Stream
It is applicable
to overseas immigrants whose occupations are present on the MLTSSL - Medium and
Long-Term Strategic Skills List. They will be employed for a maximum of 4 years
in Australia with a pathway to transition to Australian Permanent Residency.
The Labour Agreement Stream
It is for
overseas immigrants who can be employed in Australia through a labour agreement
with the Commonwealth government.
The Australia
TSS Visa eligibility requirements for applicants are:
Work Experience
All applicants
must possess a minimum of 2 years of work experience that is relevant to the
occupation that is being nominated.
Police Clearances
All applicants
will have to offer Police Clearances for each nation that they have resided 12
months or plus in the past 10 years.
English Ability
Overseas
immigrants whose occupations are present on the STSOL - Short-Term Skilled
Occupation List must have a minimum 4.5 score in IELTS’s each section or its
equivalent.
Overseas
immigrants whose occupations are present on the MLTSSL - Medium and Long-Term
Strategic Skills List must have a minimum 5.0 score in IELTS’s each section or
its equivalent
Occupation Caveats
Some of the
occupations have caveats attached with them. It means additional requirements
must be fulfilled. This is if the business wants to be nominated in a specific
occupation with a caveat.
