Subclass 870 Parent Visa has now commenced from 1st July announced the Home Affairs Department. Applicants now
submit their applications online.
Applications to
sponsor a parent for Sponsored
Provisional Subclass 870 Parent Visa opened on April 17, 2019. The
sponsored Parent can file the Visa application. This is after the sponsorship
application has been approved.
The Australia
Subclass 870 Parent Visa offers a fresh pathway to parents for provisionally reuniting with their
grandchildren and children in Australia. This is while ensuring that the
taxpayers do not have to cover the extra costs, as quoted by the SBS.
The Parent Visa
is in response to the concerns of the community. This is regarding the
inadequate allocation of places for parents in the immigration program. The associated lengthy wait periods have also
been a source of anxiety for them.
A parent must be
related to the sponsor in any one of the following ways to qualify for the
Visa:
• Biological
parent
• Adoptive
parent
• Step-parent
•
Parent-in-law of the sponsor
The sponsor must
be a Citizen of Australia, Permanent
Resident or qualified citizen of New Zealand.
The Subclass 870 Visa permits the holder to:
• Reunite with grandchildren and children
• Arrive at Australia for maximum 3 or 5
years for each Visa
• Apply again for further Visas for arriving
in Australia for a maximum period of 10 years
The Australia
Subclass 870 Parent Visa does not authorize its holder to work in Australia. It
also does not lead to Australia PR Visa
as it is a temporary Visa. The Visa holders can remain in Australia for a
maximum of 3 or 5 years at a time.
The Parent Visa
will end if:
• The Home Affairs Department cancels it
• Your sponsorship for the Visa is withdrawn
and you cannot find a new sponsor
• The Home Affairs Department cancels the
sponsorship
• It has expired and is not valid
You must stay
outside Australia for a minimum of 3 months to qualify for receiving another
Australia Subclass 870 Parent Visa. This is except if you are authorized to
apply from within Australia.
You cannot
include members of the family in the application for Parent Visa. It is also
required that you have an authorized Parent
Sponsor for submitting an application for this Visa. If you have been on
the Subclass 870 Parent Visa for the maximum cumulative period of 10 years:
• You must exit Australia; or
• You must apply for another Australia Visa
that will permit you to remain in the nation
After staying
for 10 years on this Visa you will not qualify to obtain another Subclass 870
Parent Visa.
