Alberta province in Canada may get 40,000 new immigrants in the coming 4 years. This is under the plan proposed by the United Conservative Party in the province.
The residents of
Alberta will vote for a new government for the province in spring 2019. Several
polls have demonstrated that Jason
Kenney and his United Conservative Party is leading with decisive votes.
Jason Kenney was
the Immigration Minister of Canada from
2008 to 2013. He said that the Alberta province must utilize the power of
migration. This is for revitalizing the small and rural communities, as quoted
by the CIC News. The UCP will try to achieve this by an immigration strategy
focused on 2 vital programs:
- The Rural Entrepreneurial Stream
- The Rural Renewal Program
Kenny said that
both the pathways and together bring around 10,000 new immigrants to the rural
communities annually. This is as Canada
PR holders to settle in the province. This means 40,000 PR holders over the
first term of the UCP. It is if the party is able to defeat the New Democratic
Party that is currently ruling Alberta.
The UCP leader
said that it will be aimed to pace up the processing times and clear large
backlogs. Overseas talents will be
proactively attracted to the province. Overseas
Entrepreneurs who create jobs will be welcomed and encouraged to settle in
rural areas, said Kenny. These are in major need of population, he explained.
The Rural
Renewal Program will function under the Alberta
Immigrant Nominee Program. It will offer priority to candidates in economic
immigration streams. They must express interest to settle in small and rural
communities in Alberta.
Kenny said that
communities participating in the program will be able to hire, screen and recommend the candidates. These could be already
residing in the community on Temporary Work Visas. They could also be overseas applicants, he added.
