The 3 members of a criminal gang have been sentenced in ‘Cash for Visas’ UK Immigration scam. They had been using bogus colleges and have been indicted for the fraud. The 3 individuals are:
• 37 years old Koteswara Nallamothu
• 38 years old Muhammad Babar Bashir
• 51 years old Tehshina Nayyar
The trio has
been sentenced for operating a Student
Visa UK immigration scam worth 650,000 pounds. The trial was held at
Manchester Crown Court. It heard how the trio operated criminally and used
colleges for making money. This was from more than 1,300 individuals who were
desperate to reside and study in the UK.
The UK colleges
that they utilized to hoard the cash for visas were:
• Ashton-under-Lyne area’s St John College
• Manchester city centre area’s Kinnaird
College
Both the UK
colleges were being administered lawfully prior to the gang taking over them.
They operated the Colleges in a fake
manner. This was without any teachers, equipment or books for offering
lessons to the enrolled overseas students.
Students had to
make a payment as a part of the enrolling process. They would then be offered
the letter called CAS - confirmation of
acceptance of study. It is a confirmation document, as quoted by the Desi
Blitz.
The CAS letter
then permitted non-EU citizen students to apply for UK Study Visas to the Home
Office. Therefore, they would be able to reside and study in the UK.
Muhammad Babar
Bashir controlled and managed St John College. It offered CAS to 955 students at this so-called college during 2012 September
and 2013 February.
Koteswara
Nallamothu acted as an agent and was a middle man who assisted Bashir in this
scam. He assisted Bashir by finding
students for enrolling onto the scam. These would, however, have no
intention to study in the college.
