US Universities and Colleges have diverse application deadlines but they fall approximately at a similar time.
Early Action Application Deadlines
Single choice
Early action/ Early decision/ Early action applicants usually must submit their
applications by either 1 November or 15
November. These applications are also binding. It means that applicants are
committed to attending the early decision school if accepted.
US Colleges and Universities prefer to accept students
whom they know will attend. An extended process for
early decision works both for the applicants and the school.
Early action
single choice applicant students for a US University are not allowed to apply
to any other College only during the period of early action. They can apply to
other Colleges once they receive the early action decision.
Regular College Application Deadlines
Regular College
application deadlines are usually between
1 January and 1 February based on the University/College. The bulk of your
essays and selection of those who will write your recommendations must be done
in November. This will ensure that you will not have much last-minute work in
the holiday season.
The application
deadlines for regular college are quite late. Your grades in the first semester
will be looked at. This is a very crucial semester and thus no room for
slackness.
Supplemental Material Deadlines for US University
Applications
Some US Universities
insist that supplemental materials are submitted with your admission
application. At times you can send them a few weeks after the actual admission
date. On the other hand, some want it to be sent prior to the actual
application. You must comply as per the
instructions of each school, as quoted by the University Language.
Majority of the
US Universities and Colleges advise
using the online application form. Many will also waive the allied fees
that are usually around 30 to 50 USD. You will also be sure that your
application was received within the deadline. There are some chances of your
application being damaged or lost through the postal application.
If a US School
requires an application to be mailed or you want to do so, it is highly
recommended that you obtain the receipt
and confirmation of delivery for your applications. This will prove that
you mailed the application on time if in case things go wrong.
