Highlights: New PR pathways announced for home care workers in Canada
- IRCC recently announced a new PR pathway for foreign home care workers in Canada.

Canada’s New Home Care Worker Pilot Program
The Canadian federal government has launched a new Home Care Worker Pilot Program to help eligible home care workers obtain Canada PR upon arrival. The new program is to be effective from March 31, 2025 and will replace all the caregiver immigration programs that have expired.
According to the Canada Immigration Levels Plan 2025-2027, Canada is inviting 1.1 million immigrants by 2027. The department has allocated 10,920 spots for candidates under the Federal Economic Pilot programs like the Home Care Worker Program, Agri-Food Pilot, Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot, and Community Immigration Pilots.

New Home Care Worker Pilot Program Eligibility Criteria
You would be eligible for the New Home Care Worker Pilot Program if you:
- Have received a full-time job offer as a home care worker in Canada
- Have language proficiency equivalent to CLB level 4
- Have completed high school diploma or equivalent as per Canadian standards
- Have relevant professional work experience
As per the latest update of June 16, 2024, the minimum work experience required to be eligible for the Home Care Worker Pilot Program was 6 months. However, IRCC has yet to announce further eligibility details for the new program.
