Can a spouse work in Austria on a dependant visa?
Yes, a spouse can work in Austria on a dependent visa if their family member works in Austria or they hold European citizenship. Spouses can also work if they hold a Red-White-Red Card Plus. Family members have a choice of applying for a family-dependent visa. An Austria Dependent visa is referred as Family Reunion visa in Austria.
Family members who can apply for Family Reunion visa and Red-White-Red Card Plus:
- Spouse
- Registered partner
- Children under the age of 18
- Partners in a long-term relationship
- Other relatives
Other than that some permit holders in Austria are allowed to bring their dependents to the country if they are:
- Holders of a Red-White-Red Card (work visa holders) or EU Blue Card
- Holders of a Red-White-Red Card plus
- Holders of long-term residency title in Austria
- Holders of a settlement permit (for self-employment individuals)
- Holders of a settlement permit (for researchers)
- Holders of a specific settlement permit (for special cases of dependent gainful occupation)
- Holders of a residence card or permanent residence card
- Holders of an “Article 50 EUV” residence permit.
If you migrate to Austria as someone’s spouse, you can work in Austria through two ways: a Family Reunion visa and a Red-White-Red Card Plus. Both cards help you migrate family members and let you work in the country.
