More than 16,000 foreign nationals obtained a Bulgarian passport in 2024
As per the latest Schengen News reports, in 2024, nearly 16,000+ foreign nationals were granted Bulgarian citizenship. More than 16,000 non-EU nationals were issued a Bulgarian passport, making them EU citizens. In 2023, Bulgaria issued citizenship to 12,000, indicating an increase in 2024 citizenship statistics by nearly 33.3 %. Bulgaria remains one of the popular choices amongst certain nationalities, with Turkish and Ukrainians topping the list.
