Foreign national must apply for an employment permit to get permission to work in Ireland. Non-EU resident or foreign national must obtain an employment permit before coming to Ireland. A Foreign national can work in Ireland with nine types of employment permits. They can apply for an employment permit when offered a job. They must find a job and apply for an employment permit.

Types of Work visas in Ireland

 There are two types of work permits in Ireland:

 

Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP): This Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP is for working professionals who has skills to address labor shortage in Ireland. To get this Employment Permit, the skill worker must have a job offer of at least two years.

 

General Employment Permit: This Ireland General Employment Permit is for all jobs unless otherwise specified and is issued for a 12-month job offer. The applicant must have a minimum annual income of €30,000.

 

Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permit: This Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permit is for spouses and de-facto partners of CSEP holder's permission to work in Ireland.

 

Intra-Company Transfer Employment Permit: This Intra-Company Transfer Employment Permit is for foreign nationals' senior management, trainees, and critical personnel transferred from a company's overseas branch to its Irish branch.

 

Contract for Services Employment Permit: This Contract for Services Employment Permit is for foreign nationals with the relevant skills, qualifications, experience, and knowledge in the capacity, development, and operation of sporting and cultural activities.

 

Sport and Cultural Employment Permit: This Sport and Cultural Employment Permit is for foreign nationals with the relevant skills, qualifications, experience, or knowledge in the capacity, development, and operation of sporting and cultural activities.

 

Exchange Agreement Employment Permit: This Exchange Agreement Employment Permit is for foreign nationals coming to work in Ireland under International Exchange Agreements, like AIESEC, Fulbright Programme, or The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE).

 

Reactivation Employment permit: This Reactivation Employment permit is for foreign nationals who entered Ireland with a valid employment permit but fell out of the system through no fault or have been exploited or treated poorly in their workplace.

 

Eligibility Criteria to work in Ireland

Below are the eligibility criteria to work in Ireland:

 

  • Offer Letter from employer
  • Occupations with a minimum annual remuneration of €30,
  • A relevant degree qualification or higher is required.
  • Job offer to be valid for two years
  • If you apply for a Critical Skills Employment permit, your employer must have to pass the Labor Market Needs Test
  • If applying for a General Employment permit, the maximum annual salary must be at least €30,000
  • The minimum salary threshold must meet the National minimum wage
  • The Irish company that will hire the employee must consist of 50% of EU/EEA/Swiss nationals
